BIOGRAPHY

If you took a DNA sample of Beck, David Byrne, and Cole Porter and genetically engineered a single human being, then locked that person into a room with a sampler and a couple of synthesizers, you might end up with someone like Pauly J. But if you ever asked Pauly if that sounded like an accurate description of what he did he would deny every bit of it.
Instead he would compare himself to a cross between Bartok going jiggy, Thelonious Monk on sedatives, and Cat Stevens teaming up with the Neptunes. This too would be less than accurate, but yet somehow more appropriate.

The Projects

BASS ELEFANT - The band that layed down the instrumental for The Herd's "77%". The Elefants lie deep in the developmental jungle, but they are only sleeping... tracks are coming soon.

UPSHOT - Keyboardist, and co-producer with sydney seven piece hip hop and breaks band. Collaborations included emcee's Sleeping Monk, Quro, Brass, 13th Son of December, Urthboy and Sereck. Releases were a self titled EP (Obese Records, 2003) and an album, 'Make It Happen' (Creative Vibes, 2004) and were co produced with Martin Johannessen and Michael Iveson, and feature the cuts of DJ Leeroy Brown. Other collaborations saw the backline playing for a theatre performance at Sydney Festival 2005, as a musical backing for performance poetry reading, with grooves devised courtesy of yours truly.

AEROSOL - 10 minute short film - Original music written and produced for a 10 minute futuristic fantasy fight between a factory worker and an ant. This little wonder showed at fifteen international film festivals in 2005 and I got to mix in surround sound in a really big studio... wicked... Rumour has it the director Wojciech is sitting on something big as you read this...

URTHBOY - I produced two tracks on this little beauty, "Distant Sense of Random Menace" (Elefant Traks 2004). In trying to be normal I seem to become even stranger...but apparently "Electric Shox" gets the house jumping...

BACK ON THE BUS

After a near death car accident, followed immediately by a 6 week vacation to Australia, it is now back to business of the 9-5 grind. Somehow though it is comforting to be in a routine. That must be the first sign of ageing... or else just giving up on any aspirations of radical life.
